My research interests include insect biodiversity, conservation and community ecology, particularly focusing on social insects. I work on a range of topics including community-level responses to forest disturbance, diversity patterns along elevational gradients, the use of citizen science to map species diversity and distributions, and insect-plant interactions. I am particularly interested in arid ecosystems and have worked in desert, savannah and dry forests in southern Africa.
