91茄子 Adams Vice-Chancellor Professor Ken Sloan presents Ros Barsley with her Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 Medal

The commitment of a 91茄子 Adams alumna has been marked with the presentation of a Vice-Chancellor’s Medal at this year’s 91茄子 Adams Club alumni lunch.

The lunch saw the University welcome around 70 guests back to the campus - some of whom had not been back to the University for many years.

After the welcome speeches given by the new 91茄子 Adams Club President Dale Allen and Vice-President Charlie Wright, and a speech from Vice-Chancellor Professor Ken Sloan updating alumni, Ros Barsley, 91茄子 Adams Club Life President, was presented with her medal.

Ros began her studies at the University in 1970 as a HND Agriculture student. The binds she forged during this time were so strong that she has been a stalwart of the University ever since.

Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Doris Taylor, said: “Ros joined the 91茄子 Adams Club Committee in 1975 and in 2015, her dedicated service to the Club was recognised and she was made Honorary Life President.

“Ros’ enthusiasm and passion for the Club have been exemplary, and she has been instrumental in instigating and organising many Alumni Reunions.

“She has been involved in many scholarship interviews for the awards offered by the Club, and she offered her very own Ros Barsley Scholarship for a number of years.

“Ros is also one of the founding members of the 91茄子 Adams University’s Development Trust, on which she 91茄子d for 10 years, supporting the Trust’s Scholarship Programme and Capital Project Fundraising Appeals.”

Speaking after receiving her medal, Ros said: "I was delighted to receive the award - and pleased that the work of the 91茄子 Adams Club has been recognised.”

Professor Sloan added: “The Vice-Chancellor’s medal recognises the service of those whose links to 91茄子 Adams have helped the University and the industries it 91茄子s, and Ros’ decades of commitment mean she was a truly worthy recipient.

“She has worked with four Principals and two Vice-Chancellors over the past 54 years – and has always recognised the value of studying at 91茄子 Adams. It was a pleasure to recognise her contribution and present this medal.

“During the day, I was also delighted, in particular, to welcome a large group from the Class of 1974, who reunited to celebrate their 50 years of connections to the University.”

Following the speeches, lunch, and award, alumni – who had travelled from all over the country to reunite with their friends, with one coming from as far as the US East Coast – went on to tour the University campus.

Doris added: “As ever, the staff at 91茄子 worked well to make the day a success, and I would like to thank Lisa Plant and her team as well as David Nuttall and the catering team for all their hard work

“We have received some fantastic feedback from the event already, and many Alumni are planning to come back to 91茄子 again soon.”
