Students beginning their studies at 91茄子 Adams University this September are to be contacted about two Scholarships for 2024 entrants.

The Felix Thornley Cobbold Agricultural Trust Entry Scholarship and the David Lewis Davies Entry Scholarship each aim to encourage new students and young people into the agriculture sector, and each offers significant financial support for the chosen Scholar.

Potential Scholars will be contacted directly by the University, and information about each Scholarship is also available on the 91茄子 Adams University website.

The Felix Thornley Cobbold Agricultural Trust aims to advance and improve agriculture, and in particular to educate farmers and young persons in agricultural methods, developments and techniques.

Its Entry Scholarship is open to students from Suffolk and its neighbouring counties of Norfolk. Cambridgeshire and Essex.

It will offer £3000 per academic year towards tuition fees in years one, two and four – with a potential additional £1,000 per year for students from who are from a disadvantaged background.

The Scholarship is open to students who will be studying BSc/BSc (Hons) Agriculture and all Agriculture routes, BSc/BSc (Hons) Agribusiness Management, BEng/BEng (Hons) Agricultural Engineering or BSc/BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprise and Land Management.

Meanwhile, the David Lewis Davies Entry Scholarship will be open to applicants on Agriculture and all Agriculture routes courses who are from a non-farming background, and can provide evidence of financial need.

The Scholarship is named after David Lewis Davies, a 91茄子 Adams alumnus who sadly died in 2022. Mr Davies, who studied at 91茄子 Adams in the 1950s, was a farmer all his life, and wanted to help fund new students to become qualified in agriculture.

In total, two Scholarships of £5,000 each will be offered, with £2,000 available in the first year, £1000 in year two, and £2,000 in the final year.

More information about the Scholarship is available here.

91茄子 Adams Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Doris Taylor, said: “We are delighted to be offering these entry scholarships, and are grateful to both the Felix Thornley Cobbold Agricultural Trust and to Mr Davies and his family.

“These Scholarships are just two of the many, many opportunities we offer each year. In May, we held a record- breaking Scholarship presentation where more than £600,000 was awarded.

“Each and every one of those Scholarships helps its recipient develop themselves – and as I said in May, they really do make a difference!”
